People with stiff knees or knee pain cannot walk as fast as the rest of us. They have trouble negotiating stairs. They have to move literally sideways to make it possible.
As shown below, there are 4 "valves" at each "corners" of your knee. I am not talking about the knee cap or patella as the triangular knee cap is not that big a piece of bone.
You can clearly feel 4 "dented corners" around an irregular rectangular structure formed by the patella and its surrounding tendons and ligaments.
Press downward onto them with your thumbs and fingers with force for 15 seconds. You should be able to see indentation marks created with your fingernails. Such indentations would go away in a few minutes. (Trim if your fingernails are too long.) Repeat 2-3 times a few seconds apart. One can do it for himself/herself or do it for another people. The exact steps are as follows. |
1. Stand up and lift the thigh. If the leg is still vertical like that in A, the knee is not stiff. If the leg is not vertical as shown in B, make a note of the inclined angle. This is an important step. Do this before you proceed (even for the purpose of trying). The reason? This treatment could be very effective for certain kinds of stiffness. If you do not test the knee stiffness now, you may miss the chance of knowing what this treatment can do.

4. Dig into the "valves" with force. As you can see from the stressed muscles of the thumbs and fingers, they are pinching with quite a bit of force.
5. Keep the leg relax and continue to hold the pinch for 15 seconds. Repeat 2-3 more times several seconds apart.
6. Stand up and lift the thigh up to a horizontal position. See if the knee is less stiff and the leg is more vertical and free hanging than before.

6. Stand up and lift the thigh up to a horizontal position. See if the knee is less stiff and the leg is more vertical and free hanging than before.
Depending on the cause of knee stiffness, it could be extremely effective. I have met one case when the stiff knee was gone after just one pinch.
This technique was taught to me by my LiuHeBaFa (Water Boxing) Teacher Mr.Cliff Lok. Master Lok is a man with great internal power. I could feel cool air rising up from his knee when he showed us this method of knee treatment. Simply amazing.
